MITCHELL, SD (Mitchell Now) — Hot dogs, cars and music. It’s the epitome of summertime fun, enough said.

Moose Lodge #875 in Mitchell is holding its 15th WoodieFest on Saturday. Registration for the car show begins at noon and costs $10 per entry. Classics, motorcycles, even farm equipment, are allowed. If it is motorized, it is welcome to be on display from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. in the parking lot. Twenty-five participant choice trophies are up for grabs.

Winners are announced during an awards banquet at 5:30. As soon as the car show wraps up, the lodge will turn the grill on high and begin serving up footlong chili dogs, carburetors (double hamburgers slathered in chili), or regular dogs (spark plugs).

When dinner is over, Doctor Feelgood rocks the stage into the night. Their set begins at 8:00 p.m.

A portion of proceeds from WoodieFest go to local youth programs. Organizers say they haven’t selected a cause yet, but they are committed to doing one public event a month that will raise money for community kids.

Correction: This article originally said all proceeds go to fund youth programs. The lodge is donating a portion of the proceeds instead.
