Valve Replacement Work Near Lakeview Golf Course To Affect Two Streets on Tuesday as Rest of Area Returns to Normal

MITCHELL, SD (Mitchell Now) — The city of Mitchell is warning residents on a pair of streets affected by Monday’s water shut off that the work will last for one day longer than initially planned.

Crews are replacing water valves on Country Drive and Sawgrass Avenue between N. Ohlman Street and Thunderbird Drive. Workers were supposed to leave a flyer at the door of each house affected on Saturday, stating the work may go until 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. After the contractor went over Monday’s progress, they think crews can complete the job between 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. instead.

The notice reassures homeowners on Country Drive west of Ohlman that their properties will not be affected. Monday’s work affected nearly all the homes between W. 23rd Avenue and Indian Village Road, including Lakeview Municipal Golf Course. Tuesday’s effort will be much more targeted.
