PIERRE, S.D. (MITCHELLNOW) South Dakota’s Board of Economic Development is putting big money behind business growth across the state. This week, the board approved nearly $3 million in tax relief to help build a 585-acre solar farm in McCook County, a $10 million state loan for Bel Brands to double cheese production at its Brookings plant, and a small grant to support Ally Dakota Development’s work with local businesses. All told, officials expect the projects to spark almost $395 million in private investment and create more than 160 new jobs. Governor Larry Rhoden says these moves will strengthen communities while boosting food production, renewable energy, and local business growth.
