Mitchell Basketball

The Kernel basketball teams took on Huron at the Sanford Pentagon last night in the Throwback Classic. It was another impressive performance from the (RV) Kernels girls as they started off strong with a 16-5 opening quarter and never looked back. They won 56-37 and are now on a seven-game winning streak and now sit at 8-3 overall. Addie Siemsen led the scoring effort with 15 points, CeCe Morgan added 14 and Mia Larson poured in a season-high 12 points with four threes. For the boys, they battled with (RV) Huron all game long and despite a poor shooting night, they were still within reach all night long. Trailing at the half, 18-11 after shooting under 20% in the first half speaks to the defensive effort from Mitchell. Though, in the end they still couldn’t buy many baskets and lost, 51-36. Colton Smith and Owen Schelske led the Kernels with 12 points each. The Mitchell boys are now 5-5 overall.
