Area Sports

Tonight’s Basketball Games 

  • Mount Vernon/Plankinton @ Kimball/White Lake at 6:30pm (boys)

Mitchell Gymnastics

The Kernel gymnastics team will now be competing tomorrow night when they host O’Gorman. It was moved to Friday due to the variable weather possibility today. They’ll face the Knights in Mitchell in a Varsity Dual at the Mitchell high school at 6pm in the main gym. 

Mitchell Wrestling

The Kernel wrestling teams are headed out west this weekend for a varsity tournament. Both the boys and the girls will be out in Rapid City at Summit Arena at The Monument against Rapid City Central. Tomorrow, action will start at Noon for both teams and at 8am on Saturday. 

DWU Basketball

The Tiger basketball teams took on the Dordt Defenders last night in Sioux Center, IA. It ended up being a sweep for the Defenders against the Tigers. The No. 1 Dordt WBB took down the No. 14 Tigers, 86-81. Avery Broughton and Taliyah Hayes led the way for DWU with 16 points each. For the men’s team, they were unable to get past Dordt MBB and fell by a score of 77-69. Steele Morgan led the scoring with 15 points. The Tiger women are now 6-4 overall and the Tiger men are now 5-7 overall.

SDSU Basketball

The (RV) Jackrabbit women’s basketball team took on Northern Iowa last night. It ended up being a very tight game, and SDSU escaped with a 59-57 win. Maggie Hartwig led the way with 16 points. The Jackrabbit men (6-5) will play tomorrow night in an exhibition against the Dakota Wesleyan Tigers at 7pm at First Bank & Trust Arena in Brookings, SD. The game will air on Midco Sports+. 

NFL

Tonight is Thursday Night Football on Prime Video to start Week 15. It’s the Atlanta Falcons (4-9) at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (7-6) at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa Bay, FL. Kickoff will be at 7:15pm. 

NBA

The Minnesota Timberwolves (15-9) get back to basketball tomorrow night when they take on the Golden State Warriors (13-12). It’ll be at the Oracle Performance Center at 9pm airing on NBATV.
