MITCHELL, S.D. (MITCHELLNOW) US News and World Report has released its annual ranking of the states based on several criteria.  Utah ranked as the best state to live in, and Louisiana came in last in the rankings.

South Dakota was ranked 43rd in health care, 37th for crime and corrections, 16th for fiscal stability, 15th for its educational system, 13th for robustness of the economy, 11th for general opportunity, 8th in infrastructure and 4th for natural environment.  Overall, South Dakota came in 11th in the ranking of the best states to live in.
