MITCHELL, SD (Mitchell Now) — Sioux Falls Police are searching for a suspect after an armed robbery on the city’s east side Tuesday around noon. The incident happened near 18th Street and Highline Avenue after a man withdrew cash from an ATM and stopped in a nearby parking lot to count the money.

Police Information Officer Aaron Benson said the victim was sitting in his vehicle when a masked man approached.

“While sitting in his vehicle, he reported that a man wearing black snow bibs and a ski mask had approached his vehicle and tapped on the driver’s side window with a handgun,” Benson said. “The victim rolled down the window and the man pointed the handgun at him and demanded his money. And he did hand the money over to the man who then took off walking in an unknown direction.”

No injuries were reported. Detectives are reviewing surveillance footage from the area, but no arrests have been made.
