Sanford Releases Most Popular Baby Names of 2025 in South Dakota Region

MITCHELL, SD (Mitchell Now) — Sanford Health has released its list of the most popular baby names for 2025, highlighting familiar favorites among families across the region.

According to KELLOLAND News, Sanford officials said Emma ranked as the most popular girl’s name this year, while Liam claimed the top spot for boys.

Rounding out the top five girl names were Lainey, Charlotte, Ella and Ellie. For boys, Oliver, Theodore and Leo were among the most frequently chosen names, following Liam at the top of the list.

Sanford Health reported delivering nearly 9,000 babies in 2025 across its system. July was identified as the busiest month for births.

Hospital officials say the annual baby name list offers a snapshot of naming trends while celebrating the thousands of families who welcomed new additions this year.
