PIERRE, S.D. (MITCHELLNOW) During yesterday’s special session on a new state prison, Governor Larry Rhoden left House Speaker Jon Hansen off his thank-you list, despite Hansen being included in the governor’s prepared remarks. Hansen later confirmed he would oppose the $650 million project, citing unresolved questions about providing care for transgender inmates. The Legislature eventually passed the Governor’s plan with two-thirds majorities in both chambers. The bill now heads to Rhoden’s desk for his signature.
