Property Tax Limits Create Budget Strains for South Dakota Cities

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (MITCHELLNOW) Budget pains are being felt by local governments across South Dakota, especially in areas of strong economic growth. That’s the message delivered by Sioux Falls City Finance Director Shawn Pritchett to the City Council this week. He told the council that constructing the coming year’s budget is the toughest one he’s faced due to a property tax limitation measure passed by the legislature earlier this year.
