Plankinton Bridge to be Dedicated to Fallen Vietnam Veteran Richard L. Miller

PLANKINTON, S.D. (MITCHELLNOW) A local bridge will soon bear the name of a fallen Vietnam veteran. The South Dakota Department of Veterans Affairs will hold a dedication ceremony Saturday, August 30th, at 1 p.m. at the Plankinton School District to honor U.S. Army Specialist 5th Class Richard L. Miller. The Highway 258 bridge over I-90 at Exit 308, south of Plankinton, will be dedicated as the SP5 Richard L. Miller Bridge. Miller, a Watercraft Engineer, was deployed to Vietnam in April of 1968 and was killed in action in June of 1969. According to the press release, the Fallen Heroes Bridge Dedication Program creates lasting memorials across the state to honor service members who gave their lives for freedom.
