Palace City Pre-Sturgis Party Returning to Mitchell in Early August

MITCHELL, SD (Mitchell Now) — Before heading to the western side of the state, the motorcycle world will converge on Mitchell for the Palace City Pre-Sturgis Party on Thursday, August 6th.

The fun is set to happen along Main Street from 5-10 p.m. Music will take over the Corn Palace Plaza Outdoor Stage with South Dakota’s own Turtle Peak Band from 5-7 p.m. They will rev up the crowd for the main act, Blake Redferrin. He’ll belt out country infused with hip hop-esque bravado between 8 and 9:30 p.m.

The One Wheel Revolution V-Twin Stunt Team will have performances at 5:45, 7:30, and 9:30. Other family entertainment includes a kid’s zone with inflatables and face painting, a mechanical bull set up between 1st and 2nd Avenue, food trucks in the 5th and Main Street parking lot, merchandise vendors, a cornhole tournament, and hypnotist/comedian Gary Michaels.

Main Street will turn into the Wild West for one evening only with the PowderHorn Ranch Regulators cowboy fast draw exhibitions. They’ll pull from their holsters at 5:45, 6:45, and 8:30. The 86th Sturgis Motorcycle Rally begins the following day with over a half-million riders expected to attend from across the country. Many will be go through Mitchell while heading to the Black Hills.
