The Parkston Mudcats are into the State Amateur Baseball Tournament after barreling past Winner/Colome in District 5B on Wednesday night. The fish were fueled by Spencer Freudenthal and Gunnar Wilhelm, who both had a pair of long balls on the evening. They ended up with four RBI apiece. Parkston wins it,14-9.

In Chamberlain, Kimball/White Lake claimed the District 3B title. The Nationals bested Four Corners, 5-2. Mitchell Price and Caleb Crist put on a pitching clinic with 13 combined strikeouts.

Mount Vernon stampeded past the Platte Killer Tomatoes in extra innings. The Mustangs got the 5-4 victory in 11 and have secured a spot in the Class B state tourney.

Tomorrow, 5B will wrap up action. Winner/Colome and Platte will square off to find out who is Rep #4. The nightcap is the title game between mighty Alexandria and the Parkston Rays.

It turns out that .500 was too good to be true for Minnesota. They got blanked 4-0 by the Royals on Wednesday at Target Field, dropping to 54-55 on the year. KC’s Randy Dobnak threw seven nearly pristine innings, scattering four hits and a walk without any damage done. Joe Ryan took the loss for Minnesota. He is now 6-7 with a 3.52 ERA.

The White Sox and Guardians both won, putting a little daylight between themselves and Minnesota.

WNBA

The Lynx look to prove that cats really do have nine lives. They take their winning streak north of the border against Toronto Thursday. It’s the second of a home-and-home set with the Tempo. Minnesota edged out a 100-93 victory in the first game between the two. Tip is 7 o’clock on Prime.
