Mitchell police respond to bomb threat at Walmart on Friday

Mitchell, S.D. (MITCHELL NOW)  Mitchell police responded to a bomb threat at Walmart on Friday afternoon.  At approximately 12:39 PM, dispatch received a call from a Mitchell Walmart employee reporting they received a call from someone claiming there was a bomb in the store. There was an immediate response by the Mitchell Police Department, Davison County Sheriff’s Office, South Dakota Highway Patrol, and Mitchell Fire/EMS. Store management had started evacuation of the store. The store was checked by law enforcement, and it was found to be a prank call. Law enforcement is working to identify the source of the call, but it appears to have originated outside the Mitchell area.
