Mitchell Moves Forward With First Roundabout Design

MITCHELL, S.D. (MITCHELLNOW) The City Council has approved design work for a single-lane roundabout at West 23rd Avenue and North Ohlman Street, with construction possible in 2026. The project is part of broader street improvements along North Ohlman, including water, sewer, and storm drainage upgrades. The roundabout is estimated to cost just under $500,00. Council members noted the cost is significantly higher than a traditional stop sign intersection, but a traffic study recommended the roundabout. The city will also need to coordinate with Davison County since the project falls along the city boundary. A final design is expected in October, with council review scheduled for November.
