MITCHELL, S.D. (MITCHELLNOW) A Mitchell man has pleaded guilty to a reduced charge in connection with a violent domestic incident earlier this year. According to the Mitchell Republic, 30 year-old Tanner Pickner admitted to violating a restraining order, a Class Six felony reduced from an aggravated assault by strangulation charge. He was sentenced to two years in prison, all suspended, and must pay a six-hundred-dollar fine, serve two years of probation, and complete a domestic violence course. Prosecutors say Pickner choked his girlfriend until she lost consciousness and threatened her in front of several children. Charges for witness tampering and violating bond were dismissed.
