Mitchell Leadership’s Newest Graduates Ready to Show Off Class Project

MITCHELL, SD (Mitchell Now) — The 2026 Leadership Mitchell class is scheduled to unveil a decorated traffic signal box in downtown next week.

The class project is located at the corner of 7th Avenue and Main Street, and the artwork wrapping around the box pays homage to historic Mitchell and the Corn Palace. The group says the work will have a permanent impact on one of the busiest intersections in the city while still celebrating what makes Mitchell unique.

The ribbon cutting and unveiling has been slated for Thursday, June 11th, at 3:00 p.m. Community members, guests, local leaders, and project partners are all welcome to the event.

Leadership Mitchell is run by the Mitchell Area Chamber of Commerce Government Affairs Committee to help develop the next generation of leaders. The annual program gives those enrolled a crash course on the city’s biggest issues and helps to introduce them to the resources available to make positive change.
