MITCHELL, SD (Mitchell Now) — The athletic director at Mitchell High School has been honored with a major state accolade.
Cory Aadland was named the AD of the year at the recent South Dakota High School Coaches Association Awards Ceremony. The organization cited Aadland’s work to improve facilities, such as installing field turf at Joe Quintal Field for soccer and football, opening the Performing Arts Center, and advocating for a $17 million bond to construct a basketball arena and other venues at the new high school.
Aadland was lauded for being will to try new initiatives and building out support infrastructure for coaches and student athletes. He is a Certified Master Athletic Administrator and holds several leadership roles among state and national organizations.
Aadland had previously been given the 2021 SDIAAA Region 6 Athletic Director of the Year and Steve Berseth Professional Development Award, and the 2024 NIAAA State Award of Merit.
