MITCHELL, S.D. (MITCHELLNOW) Mitchell is moving ahead with plans for a second fire station. According to the Mitchell Republic, the city council voted to fully fund the $2.5 million project in next year’s budget, reversing last week’s decision to spread out the cost over three years. The exact location hasn’t been decided, but options include the old water treatment plant site or land closer to the airport. Fire Chief Shannon Sandoval says the department already has the equipment and will add six new employees in 2026. For more Government stories from MitchellNow.com, Click Here.
