MITCHELL, S.D. (MITCHELLNOW) South Dakota lawmakers are preparing for a special legislative session later this month to decide the future of a new state prison. The session, set for September 23rd in Pierre, will focus on a task force recommendation to build a 1,500-bed men’s facility in northeast Sioux Falls. The proposed cost is capped at $650 million. Governor Larry Rhoden, speaking at the State Fair, said the project is needed after earlier plans to build in Lincoln County fell through. Lawmakers will give the plan an up-or-down vote during the special session. For more Government stories from MitchellNow.com, Click Here.
