Lawmakers Convene Sept. 23 for South Dakota Prison Special Session

PIERRE, S.D. (MITCHELLNOW) Governor Larry Rhoden has called a special session of the South Dakota Legislature for Monday, September 23, starting at 9:00 a.m. Lawmakers will consider authorizing the Department of Corrections to buy land and begin design and construction of a new state prison. Draft bills are posted on the LRC website, and additional measures may be introduced that day. The public can watch the livestream and testify in committee once agendas are set after convening.
