Lake Mitchell Residents Press City for Drawdown Timeline

MITCHELL, S.D. (MITCHELLNOW) Lake Mitchell homeowners are demanding clarity on if and when the city will draw down the lake for shoreline work and dredging. A local dock and lift contractor told the council he’s getting daily requests to pull equipment, but there’s still no official schedule. The city says Barr Engineering is waiting for a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers permit. The Mitchell Republic reports that bids were expected this fall if the permit comes through. The council said they will add the topic for public discussion, and Mayor Jordan Hanson said they’ll have a timeline ready at the next regular meeting on Monday, Sept. 15.
