Labor Day Sports Roundup: Monday 9/1/25

Mitchell Golf

The Kernel boys golf team will compete in the Marchand Cup tomorrow afternoon. They’ll be on the road in Yankton, and it will get started at 2pm.

Mitchell Soccer

The Kernel soccer teams will both be in action today in Mitchell. It will start with the girls playing at 11am and boys playing after at 1pm. Both teams will face Groton Area at Joe Quintal Field.

DWU Golf

The Tiger women’s golf team began their season yesterday in Wisconsin in the UW-River Falls Falcon Invitational. It was a good day for the Tiger athletes! Ashton Austreim and Sara Sudenga both tied for ninth place individually with scores of 167, good for 23 over par. Allison Meyerink won the tournament individually with a 154 total and 10 over par score. As a team, the Tigers finished in second place.

DWU Volleyball

The (RV) Tiger volleyball team will be playing tomorrow on the road. They will travel to Madison, SD to face Dakota State at 7pm in the DSU Fieldhouse.

DWU Soccer

The Tiger soccer teams will both play tomorrow, but against different opponents. The men will be at home taking on Providence at the Pepsi-Cola Soccer Complex at 5pm. The women will be on the road facing Buena Vista at J. Leslie Rollins Stadium in Storm Lake, Iowa at 7pm.

MLB

The Minnesota Twins ended their weekend with a win over the San Diego Padres. Byron Buxton set a career-high after hitting his 29th home run of the year and Joe Ryan pitched seven scoreless innings as Minnesota beat San Diego, 7-2. The Twins begin a new series this afternoon at 1:10pm when they face the Chicago White Sox.

WNBA

The Minnesota Lynx will be playing tonight and will be at home in Minneapolis. They will host the Dallas Wings at 7pm on NBATV.
