MITCHELL, SD (Mitchell Now) — The intersection at Ohlman and Kemper Streets in Mitchell will be closed for most of the week due to a water main replacement.

Crews will have the road crossing shut down from Tuesday through Friday to pull out an outdated asbestos cement water main and install a new pipe. A detour will be set up on Indian Village Road.

For residents of the Country Estates apartments, crews are planning on laying down a temporary gravel path that will allow access to the complex parking lot to be maintained throughout the construction.

The water main replacement is only one step of a multi-part project taking place in the area. Storm sewer repairs and street improvements will continue over the rest of the summer.
