Internet sensation “Corn Kid” to tour Mitchell’s Corn Palace on Saturday

An internet sensation will be visiting the Corn Palace today. The Corn Kid, whose real name is Tariq, is featured in a podcast with a New York company called Recess Therapy. In the video, Tariq expressed his love for corn. The video went viral on social media, with Tariq becoming popular on TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter. The South Dakota Department of Tourism decided to bring The Corn Kid and his family to Mitchell’s Corn Palace today. Katyln Svendsen with the South Dakota Department of Tourism says they are excited to see Tariq’s eyes light up when he sees a whole palace made of corn. Along with a tour of the Corn Palace, he will also get a tour of other attractions in eastern South Dakota such as the Laura Ingalls Wilder sites in DeSmet and the Children’s Museum in Brookings.
