The Mitchell Republic reports the project, made possible through a donated lot and partnerships with local organizations, will feature energy-efficient homes with accessible layouts and attached garages. Leaders say infill lots like this help keep infrastructure costs down, making workforce housing more attainable. With a recent study showing Mitchell needs 400 new homes a year to meet demand, organizers say projects like this are a vital step toward easing the city’s housing shortage.
