MITCHELL, SD (Mitchell Now) — Larry Rhoden has signed more than 200 bills into law during the current legislative session, including several measures aimed at infrastructure, privacy and public safety.

Rhoden traveled to Rapid City on Tuesday for a ceremonial signing of Senate Bill 76, which supports expansion projects at airports in Sioux Falls and Rapid City. The bill is intended to enhance capacity and accommodate future growth in air travel.

Among the newly signed laws is legislation strengthening protections for personal genetic data. The measure comes amid growing concerns about how private companies collect, store and use DNA information.

Rhoden also approved funding for workforce development initiatives, including expanded training opportunities and the creation of a new advanced manufacturing lab at Southeast Technical College.

In addition, a package of public safety bills includes new protections against doxxing, limits on releasing home addresses of law enforcement officers and judges, and funding support for highway patrol equipment and volunteer fire departments.

State officials say the measures reflect a broad focus on economic growth, individual privacy and community safety across South Dakota.
