Girls High School State Tournaments begin, DWU Baseball begins GPAC play, Tiger Softball split games yesterday, Women’s Basketball National Tournament starts tomorrow & Timberwolves lose to Clippers

Area Sports

Tonight’s Girls State Tournament Games 

Class A: 

  • No. 6 seed Sioux Falls Christian vs No. 3 seed Wagner at 6:45pm 

Class B: 

  • No. 8 seed Corsica-Stickney vs No. 1 Lyman at 11am 
  • No. 5 seed Colman-Egan vs No. 4 seed Ethan at 12:45pm 
  • No. 7 seed Centerville vs No. 2 seed Parkston at 5pm

Mitchell Basketball

The (RV) Kernel girls basketball team begins Class AA State Tournament action tonight. They are the No. 7 seed and will begin with a game against the No. 2 seed O’Gorman Knights. Tipoff is set for 5pm MT/6pm CT and prior to the game at 3pm MT the Kernels will host a pep rally in the hospitality room at the Elevation Inn & Suites hotel. 

DWU Baseball

The Tiger baseball team will get back to the field this afternoon in Great Plains Athletic Conference action. They will travel to Orange City, IA to face the Morningside Mustangs in a doubleheader with the first game beginning at 1pm. 

DWU Softball

The Tiger softball team took on both Providence (MT) and OUAZ yesterday in the Tucson Invitational. DWU was able to get past Providence in their first game of the day, 15-11, in a high-powered offensive battle. Then they faced Ottawa University (OUAZ) and couldn’t bring in enough runs in the game and ended up falling, 8-5. They will play again today in a doubleheader against two different teams. At Noon they’ll face Viterbo and then follow it up by facing Mayville State at 2pm. 

DWU Basketball

The No. 9 Tiger basketball team will begin 2026 NAIA Women’s Basketball National Tournament play tomorrow night. DWU is the No. 2 seed, and they are hosting the No. 15 seed St. Francis at the Corn Palace. Tipoff is set for 6pm and is a blackout theme! They are also hosting a pep rally at 3:30pm at Bradley’s ahead of the game. 

NBA

The Minnesota Timberwolves took on the Los Angeles Clippers last night and were routed. Even though they managed to shoot 60% from the field, LA shot a whopping 63% from the field and 51% from deep in their 153-128 win.
