MITCHELL, SD (Mitchell Now) — The South Dakota Office of Highway Safety has released the list of locations where law enforcement will be cracking down on drunk drivers in July, and it includes Davison and Jerauld Counties.

Officials chose 19 of the state’s 66 counties to establish sobriety checkpoints for the month. The goal is to improve safety by curbing drunk driving. Officials recommend anyone planning to enjoy alcohol this July, maybe during the long Independence Day holiday weekend, to have a designated driver or to use public transportation or ridesharing apps.

Drivers in counties that do not have the extra checkpoints, like Hanson, Hutchinson, or McCook, are still expected to be responsible while out on the road.
