MITCHELL, S.D. (MITCHELLNOW) Residents of the Corn Palace Inn in Mitchell are being told to move out by October 31 as the motel prepares to close its doors. The South Dakota Highway Patrol says the decision follows enforcement of a state rule limiting hotel stays to 28 consecutive days. According to the Mitchell Republic, about 21 long-term tenants will be displaced. Mid Dakota Properties, which managed the motel for more than a year, said extended stays helped keep the business afloat during slow winter months. The company says it’s ending operations, rather than challenge the city about the code enforcement. For more Government stories from MitchellNow.com, Click Here.
