Casey Crabtree Pushes Back on Sales Tax Hike to Fund Property Tax Cuts

PIERRE, S.D. (MITCHELLNOW) One idea from South Dakota’s interim property tax committee is already drawing opposition. The plan would raise the state sales tax by two percent to offset reductions in property taxes. Senator Casey Crabtree of Madison says he can’t support shifting the burden onto consumers, especially with counties and schools already stretched thin.
