MITCHELL, S.D. (MITCHELLNOW) A major bird flu outbreak is hitting South Dakota. State officials say more than 135,000 turkeys have been destroyed at three facilities to stop the spread. North Dakota is also reporting cases, with over 60,000 turkeys lost in commercial flocks there. Despite the outbreak, agriculture officials emphasize that poultry products are still safe to eat.
