Winter Weather Expected To Hit Area On Wednesday

A shot of winter weather is expected to hit our area today, prompting the National Weather Service to issue advisories and warnings for Wednesday.

A winter weather advisory takes effect at 9 AM and goes until 6 PM.  Areas to the north and northeast of Mitchell, including Huron and DeSmet, will see a blizzard warning take effect at 9 AM until 6 PM.

Falling temperatures, light snow, and wind gusts of around 40 MPH are expected.

A wind chill advisory then takes effect at 6 PM Wednesday and will remain in effect until 9 AM Thursday.

Temperatures will be in the double digits below zero.
