Two Arrested In Mitchell Drug Bust

Two people have been arrested after a drug bust at a Mitchell motel.

On Tuesday morning, dispatch received a 911 call requesting that police respond to a motel room on the 1700 block of South Burr Street. Upon arrival, officers smelled marijuana coming from the room. Searches were made of the motel room, of a residence located on North Duff Street, and of two commercial storage units in Mitchell. 86 packages of marijuana weighing around 2.75 pounds, 27 containers of butane hash oil, 78 containers of individually packaged marijuana wax, 8 containers of THC capsules, 7 bags of THC food items, 2 THC inhalers,16 THC vape pen cartridges, a digital scale, empty plastic baggies and nearly $3,500 were seized. The drugs had a street value of over $10,000.

41-year old Ryan Suing and 39-year old Jennifer Thaler are charged with unauthorized possession of a Schedule 1 or 2 controlled substance, unauthorized possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, and possession of more than one half pound but less than one pound of marijuana.

The drug items appear to have been purchased at a marijuana dispensary in Colorado. They were then transported to Mitchell to be sold.
