Severe storms tore through our region last night and this morning, producing heavy rainfall and golf ball-sized hail in some areas.  Davison County was under a tornado warning last night, but touchdown was not confirmed.  A tornado was confirmed on the ground eight miles southwest of the Lake Thompson State Recreation Area on Monday night.  Also, 2.5 inch-sized hail was confirmed by the National Weather Service near Marty.

Many county roads are underwater today.  Kimball unofficially received more than 3 inches of rain.  There are power lines across the highway there as well.  Mount Vernon is reporting heavy tree damage, and residents are discouraged from traveling there.

Here in Mitchell, we received nearly 3 inches of rain with the storms.  Lakeview Golf Course reports tree damage to the extent that no play will be allowed on the course until after noon on Tuesday. There was also damage to the clubhouse there and standing water on the course. There are widespread power outages in Mitchell and in the region.  People are reminded to stay away from downed power lines and to call and report them.
