A public report of the audit of city finances in Tripp was presented at a community meeting last week. Auditors say the city was deceived to the tune of just under $413,000. The report states that former Municipal Finance Officer Jennifer Friederich allegedly embezzled the money by overpaying salaries, receiving payroll checks in excess of authorized pay, making inappropriate charges to the city’s credit card, altering bank statements and accounting records, and making inappropriate and unauthorized payments for wireless phone services between 2011 and 2018. The 44-year old Friederich was charged with embezzlement of property received in trust and forgery and destruction or impairment of public records.
