A peaceful protest is planned for this evening at the state Capitol in Pierre. The protest is in response to the death of George Floyd and is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. Pierre Police Department Captain Bryan Walz says protest organizers have assured him that a peaceful protest is the goal. Several law enforcement agencies will coordinate to monitor and respond to the event. Pierre Mayor Steve Harding says spectators and protestors need to be respectful of property and each other.
