Outage Update From Central Electric

Photo: clipart.com

Central Electric Cooperative is aware of downed lines and broken poles. Crews are currently prioritizing clearing lines off I-90 and Highway 16 near Mount Vernon and restoring power to the Storla substation. Then crews will begin to assess damage and restore power to members across the area. A live outage map can be viewed at www.centralec.coop. Please stay away from all downed lines and broken poles as they can still be energized. Do not drive over downed wires as it is extremely dangerous and makes power restoration very difficult.

UPDATE 10 AM:  We aware of over 100 broken poles in the area. Crews are working to restore power as quickly and safely as possible. However, we don’t have an estimated restoration time, and many members will see extended outages. We realize many members are battling water in sump holes. All hands are on deck as we work. Thank you for your patience.

Remember to AVOID ALL DOWNED POWER LINES AND POLES.
