One-Way Streets Discussed At Mitchell City Council Meeting

One-way streets versus two-way streets was a topic of discussion at last night’s Mitchell City Council meeting. Parts of 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Avenues were changed to two-way streets during the recent Sanborn Boulevard reconstruction. Mitchell Mayor Bob Everson says he would like for those to remain two-way during the third phase of Sanborn’s reconstruction.

One complaint made by residents is that the streets are too narrow to be changed for two-way traffic.

The issue was put to a public vote several years ago, with 63 percent of voters choosing to keep the one-way streets. Last night’s agenda item was for discussion only, but the council will bring the discussion back at its next meeting to decide what to do with those streets during the last phase of the Sanborn Boulevard reconstruction.
