Mitchell Woman Charged In Connection With April Fire That Killed One

A Mitchell woman has been arrested after leaving three children in a house which started on fire last month. One of the children died in the blaze. 25-year old Ayla Barna is charged with three counts of abuse of or cruelty to a minor. A 7-year old, a 6-year old, and a 4-year old were left in the house at 515 North Wisconsin Street. The children were playing with a cigarette lighter, catching the house on fire. 6-year old Amyah Barna was found dead in the house. The other two children were saved by two men. Ayla Barna faces up to 40 years in prison if convicted on all counts. A court date is scheduled for September.
