End of the School Year: The school year, including the eLearning initiative, ends today, Friday, May 22.

Student Registration: Please be sure to complete registration for your students for the fall at their designated schools or through the on-line registration process.

Student property pick-up/School Property turn-in:

Gertie Belle Rogers Elementary School: GBR will complete a pick-up/drop off of student materials on Friday, May 22nd. For more details, check the school’s webpage, Facebook page, or sign up for GBR Remind by texting @gbrremind to the number 81010.

L.B. Williams Elementary School: As a friendly reminder, please adhere to our social distancing practices we previously shared one week ago from the classroom teachers about pick-up/drop-off time. On the last day, Friday, May 22, please go to your classroom teacher’s classroom window at the designated time your teacher shared with you in previous communications. Please bring your child’s Chromebook/chords/library books and any other district/school items. We will have your child’s personal items ready for them at the classroom window plus their report card and our LBW “Cares about YOU” bag for each student provided by LBW Staff and PTO. If there is an issue with your pick-up time, please contact your classroom teacher for other arrangements. We miss you!

Longfellow Elementary School: As excited as we are to see all of our LO Lions, we want to make sure we have a safe pick up/drop off day for everyone. Please remain in your vehicles at all times during the process and follow this procedure and the directions from staff:
1) Check in with Mrs. Heckenlaible and/or staff in front of the school on Mentzer St.
2) We will give you direction to the next stop: library book check in on Second Ave.
3) After the library book check in, you will turn right onto the playground (through the north gate).
4) Your child’s teacher will have you place your Chromebook and charger in a box/lid.
5) The teachers will place the personal items inside your trunk, so please make sure to release the latch/lock. These items will also include your child’s report card and a FREE yearbook.
6) You will proceed out of the playground via the south gate.

Mitchell Middle School: MMS will be collecting iPads on May 22nd from 8:00am-5:00 PM. Please bring your iPad and charger, and brick to MMS during this time. We will use a “Curbside” drop-off method to make it quick and easy for you. We also ask that you turn in any items you have such as textbooks, library books, etc. Items such as textbooks will need to be labeled with your name so we can get them to the correct teacher. Students will be able to pick up items that were in their gym lockers on the 22nd as well. If you purchased a 2019-2020 yearbook, they will be available for pickup during this time.

Mitchell High School: MHS will begin collecting laptops and textbooks on Tuesday, May 26.
8:00am – 10:00am – Students Last Name A-F
10:00am – 12:00pm – Students Last Name G-L
12:00pm – 2:00pm – Students Last Name M-P
2:00pm – 4:00pm – Students Last Name Q-Z

Food Service/Summer Meals: Please note that as of Tuesday, May 26 and through July 31, the free summer meals program will return to its normal meals distribution, at only the 5 schools in town (Longfellow, GBR, LBW, MMS, and MHS). Both daily meals—breakfast and lunch—may be picked up at any time between 8 a.m. and 1p.m. and will be served ‘grab and go’ only, with no dining in buildings.

Help is available: If your child or other members of your family are struggling with coping or undue stress at this time, please consider reaching out for assistance through our school counselors or through the “211” resource recently opened up to our community. These resource can be accessed by dialing 211 on your phone or by going to the 211 website: https://www.helplinecenter.org/2-1-1-community-resources/ .

School in the Fall: If you are wondering just how schools will open up in the fall, we are currently conducting planning for that process. As we know more, we will send that to you through district texts and e-mails.
