The Mitchell City Council meets tonight at 6 PM at City Hall in downtown Mitchell. The agenda includes first reading of an ordinance changing the district classification of property currently owned by Avera Queen of Peace for the Ridge View On Foster planned development district. The Planning and Zoning Commission approved the plan at its meeting last week after tabling the agenda item in January. Avera Queen of Peace would donate the land to the Mitchell Area Development Corporation for affordable workforce housing. Residents in the area have voiced opposition to the plan. Today’s meeting is open to the public, is streamed online and is televised locally.
