Mitchell City Council Approves New Fee Structure For Parking Tickets

The Mitchell City Council last night approved a new fee structure for parking tickets. Under the old system, the fine was based on how soon the ticket was paid. Mitchell Public Safety Chief Glen Still suggested eliminating that system, adding that the fees have not been increased in 20 years.

The council approved a thirty dollar fine for illegal parking. The fine will be fifty dollars for vehicles parked illegally during snow removal and two hundred dollars for handicap zones. Vehicles could be towed if they have been ticketed for illegal parking past the 48 hours and have not moved within another 48 hours.
