A recent decision to increase the landfill fee was brought back for discussion at last night’s Mitchell City Council meeting.  The council recently approved a 24 percent increase in the fee for private garbage haulers at the city landfill.  Public Works Director Kyle Croce says the fee had not been increased in over a decade.

Jeff Miedema, owner of Miedema Sanitation, said the sudden 24 percent rate hike was extreme.

The item was for discussion only, so no action was taken.
