A jury trial began yesterday in Hanson County for a man involved in a two-vehicle crash on I-90 which left one man dead. 32-year old Jason Ingram of Kempner, Texas is charged with second-degree manslaughter, reckless driving, operating an oversized vehicle, and driving without a commercial driver’s license. Ingram has pleaded not guilty to all charges.

On the morning of September 6th, Ingram was driving a Case Versatile 305 tractor westbound, two miles east of Alexandria on the interstate. The tractor was pulling a hose trailer used for waste handling work. It was rear-ended by a Dodge Caravan driven by 52-year old Johnnie Hines of Sioux Falls. Hines’ minivan suffered significant damage, and Hines was pronounced dead at the scene.

Ingram is accused of driving less than the 40 mile-per-hour minimum speed limit on the interstate and driving recklessly. He faces up to ten years in prison if convicted of the manslaughter charge.
