Governor Kristi Noem was in Sioux Falls yesterday looking at damages caused by Sunday night’s riot and talking to business owners as they cleaned up.

Noem says those that caused the damage were not pushing for a cause.

“These are violent criminals. Do not call them protestors. Change only happens if we create change. City councils, county commissioners, the state legislature – they are all open to solutions.”

Noem added that those that protest police brutality need to help come up with solutions.

The protest started in downtown Sioux Falls but became violent when marchers got to the Empire Mall. Sioux Falls Police got the crowd to leave by using tear gas and rubber bullets.
