The deadline to register with FEMA for disaster assistance after the severe storms and flooding in September has been extended to January 31st.

Federal disaster assistance for individuals and families can include money for rental assistance, essential home repairs, clean up expense, personal property loss and other serious disaster-related needs not covered by insurance.

Disaster Recovery Centers in these locations will close on Friday, January 17:
• • Hanson County Courthouse, 720 5th Street, Alexandria, SD
• • Davison County Fairgrounds, 3200 W. Havens Avenue, Mitchell, SD
• • Lake County, 455 S. Highland Avenue, Madison, SD

The Aurora County Disaster Recovery Center at the Aurora County Courthouse, 401 North Main Street, Plankinton, location will close on Saturday.

After the centers close, homeowners and renters with disaster-related damage in designated counties can still register with FEMA, or get other help, by visiting us online at http://www.disasterassistance.gov.
