The Corn Palace was evacuated briefly on Monday night during the Hanson Girls Classic Basketball Tournament. Corn Palace Director Doug Greenway says a sprinkler head went off in the generator room during the Sioux Valley-Sioux Falls Christian game. About 100 spectators and the players were evacuated. The Mitchell Fire Department arrived on the scene and confirmed that it was safe to resume play about 10 minutes later. Greenway says there was no damage to the building or to any equipment.
