DWU Athletic Awards

Dakota Wesleyan University announced several post-season athletic awards on Friday. Included is the 35th Annual KMIT Radio Student-Athlete Award which is presented to:  Senior Volleyball Player Becky Frick of Yankton.  The KMIT Award is based 50% on athletic achievement and 50% on leadership, character and academic achievement.

Frick was named to the first team All-GPAC for the second year in a row and was named an honorable mention All-American.   Frick led the GPAC with 4.6 kills per set, which was 5th in the NAIA, and with 540 kills, which was third in the nation.  She completed her career with 1,750 kills which is second in DWU history, and with 1,465 digs which ranks 8th in school history.   Frick also became the first DWU athlete in history to be named an Academic All-America First Team member.  She joins six other athletes in the nation on the team and is the only representative of the Great Plains Athletic Conference. Frick graduates with a perfect 4.0 grade point average as a biology major.

Sports Director Tim Smith will present the KMIT Student-Athlete Award to Frick at the postponed DWU Hall of Fame banquet in September.
