Could You, Would You… Party Underwater For 24 Hours In a Yellow Submarine

A new submarine with capacity for 120 people to party for up to 24 hours is making waves in the hospitality industry.

The Dutch-built ‘Under Water Entertainment Platform’ (or UWEP for short) is a battery-powered 115 feet submarine that can dive to 650 feet and is singularly intended host the most ‘prestigious and memorable events on the planet.’

The underwater boat spans an interior of 1,600 square feet for its 120 guests plus the crew, and can be configured to include a 64-seat restaurant (Michelin-starred, the designers suggest), a subsea gym, an aquatic casino or even a wedding hall.

There are 14 large windows inside and exterior lights to illuminate the ocean.

It was designed and built by U-Boat Worx, which specializes in both private and commercial submersibles, to ‘shake up the hospitality industry’.
The submarine can run underwater 24 hours before needing to surface to recharge.

Once they do surface, there will be no need for decompression as is the case with scuba diving, as the air pressure in the lungs of each guest will be protected within the air-conditioned, fully-pressurized environment.

U-Boat Worx’s founder and CEO Bert Houtman said in a statement.  ‘We will not only present a stellar experience for the most discerning clientele, but also a business opportunity that will benefit entrepreneurs and contribute to our understanding of the oceans.’

To top it all off, the UWEP also features a sun deck upon which people can stand while the boat is in port (or at least above the sea) to get some sun or admire a beautiful coastline.
